How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Do you have a genuine enthusiasm for supporting children and young people with special educational needs? GSL Education Kent are looking for a kind and understanding SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing specialist school in Tonbridge.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be essential in supporting pupils to grow not only academically but also socially and emotionally. Working alongside the teaching team, you will provide individualised support to students aged 3 to 19 who have a variety of complex needs, such as severe and profound learning disabilities, autism, and related medical conditions.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment where every child is celebrated for who they are. The school has a deep commitment to promoting independence, communication, and positive well-being in all pupils, creating a safe, nurturing space where children can thrive both personally and academically. The curriculum is designed to be flexible, responsive, and holistic – prioritising each student’s voice and individual pathway.

Key responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant include:

Providing 1:1 or small group support under the guidance of teaching staff
Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans
Supporting students with communication, behaviour, personal care, and sensory needs
Encouraging the development of independence and life skills
Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in a school or care setting)
A calm, resilient, and caring attitude
    Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact in a school that believes every pupil has a right to be valued, heard, and successful.

Please be advised that this SEN Teaching Assistant role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.

As an ethical, inclusive and independent recruitment agency, GSL Education are committed to providing quality teaching and support staff in schools across the UK.
