How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are seeking a Production Engineering Technician to work for a successful machinery manufacturing company in Barnsley

    Hours of work will be 07:30 16:30 Monday Thursday & 07:30 13:30 Friday (40 hours per week)

    The Production Engineering Technician role requires team players to work within the Production Engineering Team to provide technical support for Production Shotblast, Painting and Assembly processes and systems to assess, analyse and develop Continuous Improvement opportunities and the cost-effective method of value-added production output.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide technical support to production to ensure shotblast, paint lines and manual assembly operate effectively and efficiently.

    • Conduct accurate value stream mapping with time studies to support accurate labour and capacity planning, with true process costings to ensure accurate product costing.

    • Conduct investigations into process variation, understanding and implementing corrective and preventative actions to maintain a stable process.

    • Review material condition and provide detailed analysis of additional costs for steel surface preparation, to enable accurate decisions to be made for the covered storage of raw material and fabrications.

    • Liaise with maintenance and contractors to identify what servicing and maintenance is required to ensure the plant and equipment is optimised and increases the longevity of the plant.

    • Document all parts of the process, handling and TPM’s through standard operating procedures, works instructions and how to guides.

    Experience:

    • Mechanical Engineering qualification – minimum HNC

    • Experience of Paint preparation, painting process and product assembly essential.

    •Experience of value stream mapping and process analysis preferable but not essential.

    • Understanding of Environmental Health & Safety requirements of a painting process desirable but not essential

    • Familiarity with testing and calibration of production and test equipment desirable but not essential
