A well-established and growing international logistics provider is looking to recruit an experienced Road Freight Operator to join their busy operations team in Middlesbrough.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with European road freight experience, particularly within Nordic markets, to join a highly respected logistics organisation known for delivering reliable, customer-focused transport solutions.
You will play a key role in coordinating groupage and full-load trailer movements between the UK and Scandinavia, ensuring shipments move efficiently while maintaining exceptional service levels for customers.
The Role
As a Road Freight Operator, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end movement of freight across Nordic trade lanes, ensuring all operational, documentation and customer requirements are met.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and coordinating groupage and full-load trailer movements between the UK and Scandinavia
Negotiating rates with transport providers and hauliers
Booking collections and ensuring freight meets sailing and departure deadlines
Providing competitive quotations to customers
Preparing and checking transport and customs documentation
Completing import/export declarations where required
Providing shipment updates and resolving customer queries
Maintaining strong customer relationships and service standards
Ensuring compliance with customs regulations, trade compliance and internal procedures
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in road freight or European groupage operations
Experience with Scandinavian or Nordic markets is highly desirable
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment
Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
Experience negotiating with hauliers and transport providers
