How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Teacher

Specialist Autism School | Maidenhead | Ages 4–16 | Autism (ASC)

    Full Time | Permanent

Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale + SEN Allowance

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a highly specialised autism school in Maidenhead on a full-time permanent basis, supporting children aged 4–16 with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about autism education and committed to helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong interest in SEN and autism are warmly encouraged to apply.

    About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver highly personalised, autism-informed learning tailored to each pupil’s individual needs, communication style, and EHCP outcomes.

Classes are small, with strong adult support, allowing you to focus on meaningful progress, communication, emotional regulation, and independence.

The school follows a specialist, low-arousal approach, with an emphasis on consistency, routine, and understanding behaviour as communication. You will typically work within a defined primary or secondary key stage, rather than across a wide age range.

This is a permanent full-time teaching position, offering monthly salary payments in line with the Teacher Pay Scale, plus SEN allowance.

    Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver structured, differentiated lessons aligned with EHCP targets
Teach pupils with autism using specialist strategies (e.g. TEACCH, visual supports, structured teaching)
Create a calm, predictable, and low-arousal learning environment
Support and develop communication skills, including use of AAC where appropriate
Promote emotional regulation, independence, and life skills
Work closely with teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team, including therapists
Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and assessment processes
Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
    About You

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
ECTs are welcome to apply — a strong interest in SEN and autism is essential
Experience working with pupils with autism is desirable but not essential
Understanding of autism-specific approaches (training can be provided)
Patient, consistent, and reflective, with a calm and nurturing approach
Strong commitment to child-centred and inclusive practice
Ability to adapt teaching to meet sensory and communication needs
Willingness to develop specialist SEN and autism expertise
    Salary & Benefits

    Full-time permanent contract
Paid monthly via Teacher Pay Scale (MPS/UPS)
    Additional SEN Allowance
Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios
Specialist autism-focused environment designed to support sensory and learning needs
Strong, supportive leadership team and collaborative staff culture
Ongoing autism-specific CPD and career development opportunities, including ECT support
Access to a multidisciplinary team, including therapists
The opportunity to make a meaningful, long-term impact on pupils’ lives
    How to Apply

If you are an SEN Teacher — including an ECT — looking to join a specialist autism school in Maidenhead on a full-time permanent basis, where you can make a genuine difference, please get in touch to find out more and discuss next steps.
