How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

NRL are currently looking for a Technical Bid Coordinator to join our clients team on a permanent basis based in Middlesbrough, working in the Sales & Estimating Commercial department.

This role will consist of supporting the bid/no-bid decision-making process by evaluating tenders against criteria including risk profile, resource capacity, strategic fit, and commercial viability and you will report to the Operations & Commercial Directors

    Role Overview
The technical bid coordinator fulfills the critical role of overseeing and coordinating the end-to-end bid process within the company from initial tender receipt through to submission and post-tender review.
Acting as the principal coordinator between client & internal departments, including estimating, commercial, technical, and operations, the role ensures that all bids are produced to the highest standard, submitted on time, and fully compliant with client requirements.
The position demands strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities Bid Administration & Coordination
    • Manage the administrative booking-in of all tenders received, maintaining an up-to-date sales and estimates register with accurate KPI data
    • Act as the central coordinator between internal departments, including estimating, commercial, technical, and operations, to ensure timely and complete bid submissions
    • Set out and communicate clear timelines and internal completion dates for each tender, ensuring all contributors are aware of their responsibilities and deadlines
    • Compile all bid information into company bid templates, ensuring consistency and professionalism across all submissions
    • Produce and maintain a submission checklist for each bid to verify full compliance with client tender requirements prior to issue
    Pre-Qualification & Technical Submissions
    • Coordinate and compile the completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), ensuring accuracy and alignment with company capabilities and accreditations
    • Act as the focal point for collating and issuing the technical and commercial qualification and deviation register
    • Identify and flag commercial or contractual risks within tender documents, including onerous terms or ambiguous scope — and escalate to management as required
    • Receive, internally distribute, and respond to client technical and commercial queries during the tender period in a timely and professional manner
    Estimating & Pricing
    • Compile internal estimates from across the business into a consolidated master pricing schedule for review and approval by the management team
    • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations as part of the estimating process
    • Liaise with technical and operations staff to ensure that construction programmes, method statements, and technical submissions accurately reflect the proposed scope and approach

    Essential
    • Demonstrable experience in a bid coordination, estimating support, or technical administration role within the construction or engineering sector
    • Knowledge of the pre-qualification and framework accreditation process
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously to strict deadlines
    • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional bid documentation
    • High level of attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to document management.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

    Desirable
    • Experience working within a framework agreement environment
    • Familiarity with construction contract forms (e.g. NEC, JCT) and an ability to identify key commercial risks
    • Experience with bid management software or CRM systems
