How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job title: Mechanical Design Engineer

    Salary: £35,000 £45,000 pa

    Location: Chorley, PR6

    Duration: Permanent

    Start date: ASAP

    Mechanical Design Engineer required on a permanent basis in Chorley for a specialist and established Engineering company.

    Salary on offer between £35,000 - £45,000 pa, this is an office based role working a 36.25 hour week (7.5 Mon-Thurs, 6.25 Fri). There will be periods of time requested for on site sales support, site surveys, installs and commissioning, if commissioning on site, would be more and an allowance is paid extra.

    Candidates will need a HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

    Tasks and responsibilities:

    * Mechanical Design using 2D CAD and 3D Software – Solidworks

    * Production of Engineering detail and assembly drawings

    * Production of Sales Proposals at the enquiry / quote stage to support Sales effort

    * Design of Pneumatic systems as part of the mechanical solution

    * Design of Hydraulic systems as part of the mechanical solution

    * Supporting calculations to verify design

    * Supporting FEA where necessary to verify design

    * Designing and developing new mechanical systems

    * Liaising with customers and suppliers

    * Project Management with cost and time constrained environments

    * To maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all works in all formats required

    * To produce project progress reports as requested

    * Troubleshooting and problem solving

    * Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken

    * Providing advice and consultancy support

    * Developing new business proposals

    * Accepting responsibility and accountability commensurate with the position

    Other duties:

    Specialist projects as agreed to support the business requirements of the organisation. In addition you will be prepared to carry our any other reasonable duties requested.
