How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN English Teacher - Alternative Provision (Smethwick)
    Start Date: April 2026
    Full Time | Long-Term Role

    Academics are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN English Teacher to join our Alternative Provision based in Smethwick. This is a full-time position starting April 2026, working with students who present Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and may have experienced challenges in mainstream education. Your role will be to re-engage learners in English, build their confidence and help them achieve meaningful academic and personal outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver creative, differentiated English lessons for KS3-KS4 learners with SEMH needs.
    Build positive, trusting relationships with students and support their emotional regulation.
    Develop individual learning plans and adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of needs and abilities.
    Work closely with the wider pastoral and therapeutic team to support holistic student development.
    Contribute to behaviour support strategies and promote a safe, structured learning environment.
    Track progress and provide regular feedback to pupils, parents/carers, and senior staff.About You

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) essential.
    Proven experience teaching students with SEMH needs - in an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN school or similar setting.
    Strong behaviour management skills, resilience and a calm, consistent approach.
    Ability to create engaging, literacy-focused lessons that inspire reluctant learners.
    A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.What We Offer
