Grounds Maintenance Operative

Salary: £12.30 per hour plus Veolia benefits and company pension
Hours: 37 hours weekly between:
13:00 - 21:00 Monday to Thursday.
13:00 - 20:30 Fridays
Location: Solihull, B91 2LW, Moat lane depot
Fixed Term Contract: Start: 23rd March 2026 End date: 30th October 2026

What you'll be doing;
* Maintain and enhance public spaces through comprehensive grounds care, including lawn maintenance, planting, landscape upkeep, and litter removal, while ensuring safety and cleanliness.
* Various tasks including but are not limited to, grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning, bin servicing, litter picking, as well as shrub and flower bed maintenance and more
* Conduct daily inspections using vehicle check books, equipment check books, and HAVS (Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome) books, adhering to guidelines in the Driver/Operator handbook to ensure safety and compliance.
* Ensure that each day all completed work is detailed on your daily worksheet/tablet
* Complying with all traffic laws and legislation in relation to your duties including the security and weight of loads
* Conform with all applicable site rules when offloading at disposal sites.
* Conform with all depot site rules and procedures.
* Carry out any other duties that may be required as directed by your line manager
What we're looking for;
* We are seeking a reliable, motivated individual committed to quality and safety
Essential:
* Good knowledge of health and safety
* Physically fit and comfortable working in an outdoor environment
* Reliability and punctuality
* Instructional compliance: Able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
* Communication: Able to communicate effectively with team members,supervisors and members of the Public
* A full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Prior Grounds maintenance experience.
