PK Education are working with a number of secondary schools who are looking for confident individuals to step into lessons and keep learning on track when teachers are absent. If you’re someone who can take charge of a room, think on your feet, and build quick rapport with students, this could be a great fit.
This isn’t planning-heavy teaching — the work is already set. Your role is to lead the room, keep students focused, and make sure the lesson runs as it should.
What the day looks like
You’ll arrive, be briefed by staff, and head into lessons where you’ll deliver pre-set work across different subjects. Some classes will be straightforward, others will test you — but that’s where you build real classroom confidence. You’ll manage behaviour, support students where needed, and keep things moving.
No marking. No planning. Just being present, confident, and consistent.

What you need
Confidence in front of a group is key. Experience working with young people helps, but isn’t essential if you’ve got the right attitude. You’ll need to be adaptable, calm under pressure, and able to set clear expectations. A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to get one) is required.
