How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Principal/Lead Electrical Engineer

    Are you an experienced electrical engineer ready to take on a leadership role in major infrastructure projects? We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Lead Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic MEPHFC Design Team, focusing on Tunnels & Highways projects in the UK and internationally.

    About the Role

    As a senior member of the team, you will:

    Lead and manage a small team of engineers.

    Act as the technical authority for electrical power-related matters.

    Deliver HV, LV, and electrical building services designs, including reports, specifications, single line diagrams, layouts, calculations, and protection schemes.

    Oversee design development from feasibility through to as-built stage.

    Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.

    Conduct design reviews and support design assurance processes.

    Mentor and upskill engineers, fostering a "right first time" culture.

    Provide on-site design support during construction and testing phases.

    Prepare progress reports and present to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

    Person Specification

    Essential:

    Degree in Electrical Engineering.

    Chartered Engineer status (Engineering Council registration).

    Subject matter expertise in HV, LV, and electrical building services design.

    Minimum 15 years' industry experience.

    Strong knowledge of British Standards and Regulations.

    Proven leadership and mentoring skills.

    Excellent communication, organisation, and collaboration abilities.

    Proficiency with engineering software tools (ETAP, Trimble/Amtech Pro Design, Dialux/Relux).

    Right to work in the UK.

    Desirable:

    Experience with RIBA design stages and multi-disciplinary coordination.

    Familiarity with BIM and 3D modelling.

    Knowledge of NEC contracts and project communications.

    Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project scopes.
