    Job description

    Due to continued expansion we're looking for an experienced Working Foreman / Supervisor to join our client's busy workshop team.

    If you're a time-served Fabricator/Welder with proven leadership experience, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a key hands-on role within a busy, high performance marine fabrication environment.

    As a Working Foreman/Supervisor, you will take responsibility for leading day‑to‑day workshop and site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the high standards our client is known for.

    Your role will include:

    Hands-On & Technical Responsibilities

    Overseeing fabrication, assembly, and installation of marine components
    Interpreting and working from engineering and technical drawings
    Carrying out fabrication and welding tasks to a high standard
    Supporting vessel repair, refit, and shipbuilding projects
    Ensuring compliance with workmanship and quality inspection requirements

    Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities

    Supervising, mentoring, and supporting a multi-skilled workshop team
    Coordinating daily workloads and delegating tasks effectively
    Monitoring productivity, work quality, and project timelines
    Conducting toolbox talks, safety briefings, and risk assessments
    Ensuring workshop and site activities comply with HSE regulations
    Liaising with customers
    Visit customer sites to discuss potential projects and understand requirements.
    Gather key information on scope, risks, constraints, and resource needs.
    Outline what materials, labour, and capabilities would likely be required.
    Identifying training needs and encouraging skills development within the team

    Operational Responsibilities

    Managing materials, tools, consumables, and general workshop organisation
    Completing job sheets, progress reports, and documentation
    Supporting on-site work on vessels, quaysides, and dry docks when required
    Troubleshooting fabrication or fit‑out issues to keep projects movingWe're seeking someone confident, reliable, and proactive, with a strong background in fabrication and team leadership.

    Essential:

    Time-served Fabricator/Welder (SVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
    Strong welding & fabrication experience (MIG/TIG/Stick)
    Demonstrable supervisory or team-leading experience
    Ability to read, interpret, and work from complex technical drawings
    Experience working in a workshop or on-site fabrication environment
    Good understanding of HSE standards and safe systems of work
    Full UK Driving LicenceDesirable:

    Marine or shipbuilding experience
    Experience leading mixed-skilled teams on time critical projects
    Certifications such as CSCS, SSSTS, or confined space (training can be provided
