How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Civil Operative (Groundworker/360 Operative) - NG Competent Person (NSI 6&8 Full)
    Location: Upper Boat 275kV Substation, United Kingdom
    Job Type: Temporary Contract
    Start Date: 30/03/2026
    End Date: 29/05/2026
    Hours: 45 hours per week
    Working Hours: 07:30 - 17:30
    Rate: £32 per hour

    Overview:

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Operative (Groundworker) to support works on a National Grid substation project at Upper Boat. This role is suited to candidates with proven experience working within high-voltage environments and delivering groundworks on infrastructure projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out general groundworks on a live substation site
    Operate a 360 excavator (up to 10T) including lifting operations
    Work in line with site safety procedures and National Grid requirements
    Support the delivery of civil works within programme and quality standards
    Maintain a safe and tidy working environment at all timesEssential Requirements:

    National Grid Competent Person / NSI 8 (Full authorisation)
    CPCS or NPORS certification for 360 Excavator (up to 10T with lifting operations)
    Previous experience on National Grid or similar HV substation projects
    Full PPE prior to attending siteAdditional Information:

    This role is classified as inside IR35; payment via limited company is not permitted
