Are you a compassionate and resilient individual with a passion for supporting children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? A nurturing primary school in Brighton is seeking a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their team from April.

The school is recognised for its inclusive ethos, therapeutic approach, and commitment to personalised learning. It provides a supportive environment where pupils with complex needs are encouraged to grow emotionally, socially, and academically.

    Key Responsibilities:

Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with significant physical, medical, and cognitive needs
Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility in a respectful and dignified manner
Use sensory tools, visual aids, and communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC to enhance engagement
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to implement and review individual learning plans
Create a calm, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes independence and positive behaviour
    The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience supporting children or young people with PMLD, SLD, or complex needs (in education or care settings)
Be empathetic, flexible, and committed to inclusive practice
Communicate effectively and work well within a multidisciplinary team
Be confident using assistive technology and sensory resources
Be open to ongoing training, including manual handling and medical procedures
Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a school where every achievement is celebrated, and staff are supported to grow professionally while making a lasting impact on pupils’ lives.

Supply Desk is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
