How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Project Manager (Command, Control, Signalling & Traffic Management)
    Location: Chippenham
    Employment Type: Contract Outside IR35
    Sector: Rail / Infrastructure
    This role focuses on delivering a major Command, Control, Signalling & Traffic Management (CCS & TM) project. This is a large‑scale, high‑value engineering programme involving advanced transport and rail technology. The work sits within a highly regulated engineering environment and requires coordination across many technical disciplines.
    Responsibilities
    * Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of a high‑value signalling and traffic management project.
    * Drive a zero‑accident safety culture across the project.
    * Manage planning, scheduling, Earned Value (EVM) reporting and project controls.
    * Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and mobilise resources as required.
    * Maintain strong communication between client, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders.
    * Oversee financial performance, commercial matters, and scope/contract change control.
    * Monitor risks, issues and escalate appropriately within the organisation.
    Key Skills & Experience
    * Experience managing high‑value, capital engineering projects with strong client interaction.
    * Proven delivery through the full project lifecycle.
    * Management of multidisciplinary project teams.
    * Strong capability in:
    * Project Planning & EVM
    * Resource management
    * Risk & issue management
    * Financial and commercial control
    * Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to tailor messages for different audiences.
    * Strong leadership with high emotional intelligence and the ability to build consensus.
    * Commercial awareness, including contractual understanding within regulated engineering sectors.
    * Degree‑qualified in engineering (or equivalent).
    Desirable
    * Experience preparing tenders, proposals and contract negotiations.
    * APM accreditation or equivalent.
    * Second degree in a management discipline.
