Job Title: Lead Engineer
Location: West Sussex
Salary: £45,(Apply online only) – £55,(Apply online only)
Shift: Monday – Friday (Days) + Overtime

Job Role of the Lead Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business operating within a technically demanding environment. The site has seen significant recent investment and offers a strong platform for engineers looking to step into a role with progression into leadership.

This will initially be a hands-on role, supporting maintenance activities across the site, with a clear pathway into a team leadership position as the engineering function continues to grow.

You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, fault-finding and supporting the coordination of engineering activities to ensure site reliability and performance.

Sector – Factory Maintenance (Manufacturing)

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Lead Engineer

• Mechanical bias with experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent apprenticeship).

Requirements for the Lead Engineer

• Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience working on plant equipment within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting or coordinating PPM activities.
• Strong understanding of health & safety standards.
• Ability to work independently in a hands-on role.

Desirable Requirements for the Lead Engineer

• Experience within a heavy industrial or process environment.
• Basic PLC fault finding experience.
• Previous exposure to coordinating work or supporting junior engineers.
• Previous experience in a workshop environment.
