    Behaviour Support Assistant
    Location: Rotherham
    Recruitment Agency: TeachMatch
    Pay: £90-£105 per day

    TeachMatch is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to work within primary and secondary schools across Rotherham. This role focuses on supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional and social needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and thrive within a school environment.

    You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to provide consistent, targeted support that promotes positive behaviour, inclusion and emotional wellbeing.

    The Role
    As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will support pupils who require additional guidance to manage behaviour and access learning successfully. Support may be delivered on a one-to-one basis or within small groups, depending on individual needs.
    Key responsibilities include:
    Behaviour & Classroom Support

    Supporting pupils with behavioural challenges by implementing school behaviour policies and strategies
    Providing in-class support to help pupils remain engaged, focused and on task
    Assisting with the creation and monitoring of individual behaviour or support plans
    Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and unstructured periodsIntervention & Pastoral Support

    Delivering targeted interventions for pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation or social interaction
    Supporting pupils at risk of disengagement to improve confidence and classroom participation
    Acting as a positive role model and building strong, trusting relationships with pupilsPromoting Positive Behaviour

    Reinforcing positive behaviour through praise, consistency and clear expectations
    Supporting teachers with classroom management to maintain a calm, structured learning environmentSafeguarding & Wellbeing

    Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils at all times in line with safeguarding and child protection procedures
    Recording observations and sharing relevant updates with school staff
    Person Specification
    Essential Skills & Experience

    Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting
    An understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to apply them effectively
    Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
    A calm, patient and empathetic approach when supporting pupils with behavioural or emotional needs
    A proactive, solution-focused mindset and commitment to inclusive education
