How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Machine Shop Shift Supervisor

    Salary: £55,000 – £60,500 (inclusive of 10% shift allowance) + Team Bonus
    Location: Uxbridge (commutable from Slough, Wembley, High Wycombe, Watford, Aylesbury, West London)
    Hours: 7 on / 7 off | 07:00 – 17:00 (with break)

    We’re working with a well-established and highly respected engineering manufacturer in the Uxbridge area who are looking to bring in a Shift Supervisor to lead their Machine Shop team.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a skilled team, driving productivity, quality, and performance in a structured and stable environment.

    What’s on Offer

    * £55,000 – £60,500 total earnings (including 10% shift allowance)

    * Team productivity bonus

    * 7 on / 7 off shift pattern (excellent work-life balance)

    * Stable, long-standing engineering environment

    * Clear progression and development opportunities

    * Supportive leadership team and well-established processes

    The Role

    As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for leading a team of machinists and operators, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and KPIs are consistently achieved.

    You’ll play a key role across both people management and operational performance, acting as the link between the shop floor and senior leadership.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Allocating work and managing machine/shop floor capacity

    * Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of operators

    * Monitoring KPIs, productivity, and output performance

    * Driving continuous improvement and lean initiatives

    * Conducting appraisals, reviews, and supporting recruitment

    * Ensuring all work is completed in line with quality standards and engineering drawings

    * Managing day-to-day operational issues to minimise downtime

    * Supporting health & safety, COSHH, and site compliance standards

    * Using systems such as ERP/SAP to track production and performance

    You’ll also take full ownership of the shift during operation, ensuring smooth delivery across all machining activities.

    About You

    We’re looking for someone with strong leadership experience within a manufacturing or machine shop environment.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * Proven experience supervising or managing teams in a machine shop

    * Strong understanding of machining processes and engineering environments

    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

    * Experience driving team performance and hitting KPIs

    * Confident communication and leadership skills

    * Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP desirable)

    * A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving

    Any exposure to CNC machining, tooling, or inspection processes would be highly beneficial.

    Why Apply?

    This is a genuinely strong opportunity to join a stable, well-run engineering business with a solid team already in place.

    The 7 on / 7 off shift pattern offers a great work-life balance, and the role gives you real autonomy to lead, influence, and improve performance on the shop floor
