    Job description

We are supporting a growing organisation within the automotive sector in hiring a skilled Paint Development Engineer. This role will act as the in‑house paint specialist, leading paint development activities, supporting new product design, managing supplier performance, and driving quality improvements.
    The Paint Development Engineer will:
    * Lead the development, testing, and approval of new colours, coatings, and finishes.
    * Apply TS16949 methodologies such as PFD, PFMEA, QCPC, FPDR, and TPDR.
    * Set, implement, and enforce aesthetic paint standards across internal and external operations.
    * Lead process and facility re‑engineering activities to meet Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
    * Support with the creation and deployment of aesthetic standards across the supply chain.
    * Apply expert knowledge of liquid paint, powder coating, pre‑treatment, electro‑deposition, and paint application on ABS, aluminium, steel, and carbon fibre.
The Paint Development Engineer will have:
    * Proven experience in paint processes, ideally from a paint plant, automotive environment, or paint supplier development role.
    * A technical or engineering qualification, ideally in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
    * Strong manufacturing background with experience working closely with suppliers.
    * Solid commercial awareness, particularly regarding the cost impact of processes, standards, and bespoke finishes.
    * Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
    * Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
You’ll have the chance to influence design, shape paint standards, and work closely with multiple teams to deliver world-class finishes. If you’re interested in this opportunity, please send us your CV or reach out for a discussion
