TARA Recruitment is currently working with a number of secondary schools across Shropshire, Telford and Staffordshire who are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support students with Special Educational Needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience supporting young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience. The role is particularly well suited to those considering a career in education, educational psychology, or planning to apply for a PGCE or other teaching qualifications in the future.
Role Overview
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to support students with additional learning needs. You will help students access the curriculum, build confidence, and create a positive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs
*
Supporting students with learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs
*
Assisting the teacher in delivering lessons and adapting activities where required
*
Helping to maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
*
Encouraging student engagement, independence and confidence
*
Monitoring and reporting on student progress and behaviour
Requirements
*
Relevant TA qualifications and/or previous experience working with young people in a school, care, youth work, coaching, or similar environment
*
A patient, empathetic and supportive approach
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*
The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
*
An interest in supporting students with additional needs
