    Job description

    Cherry & White Ltd is an established telecommunications company serving Military, Government, Transport and Utility markets. Due to the continued growth, the company is looking to appoint a further two Junior Telecommunications Support Engineers to enhance an already strong and competent team with different specialisms.
    The company markets a wide range of PDH, SDH, Ethernet/IP, MPLS, Optical specialised, DWDM, Cellular and Wireless, LTE based networking equipment and Syncronisation. We provide and manage a variety of SNMP based network management systems servers. The applicant must have a basic understanding current technology.
    We are looking for positive, hardworking candidates who are willing to learn and keep on top of modern communication technologies as the telecommunication industry evolves. The company has a reputation for integrity and strong technical capability, the applicants will need to be a team player who are willing to learn and keen to progress their career within a growing business.
    The applicant should have some experience and a keen interest within the telecommunications sector and be eligible for UKSC & NPPV3 clearances with the availability to deploy into the field when required.
    We provide 24/7 support to our customers so the ability to participate in an out of hours rota is essential. This will take the form of telephone support, email support and the occasional customer site visit.
    The company is offering an attractive salary for the right person, this will be very dependent on experience and their level of knowledge.
    THIS IS NOT AN IT ROLE OR SUITABLE FOR CABLE SPLICERS, PULLERS OR RODDING & ROPING EXPERIENCED PEOPLE.
    Full-Time – 37 hours/week, Gloucester office-based Role. NO HYBRID OR REMOTE WORKING WITHIN THIS ROLE. Interviews will be in person and not online.
    For security clearance, it is imperative that you have been a UK resident for 5 years or more. This is a mandatory requirement. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF LESS THAN 5 YEARS RESIDENCY IN THE UK.
    Key Technical Skills:
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge in Optical Networks and associated hardware.
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge in the use of test equipment such as optical power meters & light sources, BERT’s,cellular scanners and multi-meters.
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge of Cellular LTE
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge Routing & Switching protocols and
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge network synchronisation.
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge in fault finding methodology.
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge with remote network management platforms.
    · Understanding, experience or knowledge in Cisco hardware and configuration.
    Key Supporting Skills:
    · Confident communicator both verbally and written, internally and externally.
    · Comfortable engaging with both customers and suppliers on technical and project related matters.
    · Experience using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    · Ability to work as part of team or autonomously using their own initiative.
    · Ability to work under pressure and to given deadlines.
    · Available to carry out field activities as when the business requires, to include GPS & cabinet surveys, Installation of telecoms equipment, commissioning and fault rectification.

    · Full clean driving license or working towards.
    Additional attributes:
    · Experience within a project engineering environment.
    · Technical pre-sales or Proof of concept experience
    Salary:
    £25,000 to £34,000 Dependent on experience.
    Auto enrolment to Pension scheme after 3 months.
    20 days Annual Leave plus 8 days Bank Holiday.
    1-day extra Birthday Leave
