We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join our client who specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of Product Handling Equipment within a variety of engineering industries.

This position would suit a Production Engineer / Draughtsperson / Detail Design Engineer as it’s a varied role…. You will be tasked to support the mechanical engineering department with production of 3D design models, technical detail drawings and design documentation. While also supporting production team and supply chain, dealing with technical, design / shop floor queries etc…

1. Our client is an engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of product handling systems.

2. Full turnkey solutions - Offering Electrical and Controls engineering undertaken from another site, Mechanical and Hydraulic engineering is taken care of at the Telford office. The full turnkey solution is then built and tested in Telford before being shipped and installed at site.

3. Our client supports its customer worldwide in many industry sectors, both onshore and offshore. Industries supported by our client include Oil and Gas, Renewables, Oceanographic Survey and Defence.

1. About the Role

1. A production engineer is required to support the mechanical engineering department with production of 3D design models, technical detail drawings and design documentation.

2. The production engineer will support the mechanical design engineers to develop concept design models and design for manufacture, ensure design intent is accurately represented in the technical drawings and produce design documentation.

3. Bills of Materials shall be uploaded to the ERP system so that items can be purchased and production planning can be completed.

4. Support shall be provided to the supply chain in the manufacture of designs following technical and quality related queries.

5. Additional support shall be provided to the production department in the planning and execution of the build process to ensure the design intent is achieved.

6. During and post production, the technical drawings and design documentation shall be brought up to as-built status inline with quality assurance requirements.

7. The production engineer shall also support the test engineer in the production of test plans and layouts.

3. Responsibilities

* 3D modelling – design for manufacture from concepts

* Technical draughting

* Design documentation

* Drawing and documentation checks

* Compiling and maintaining ERP system data entry

4. Skills and Qualifications

* ONC or equivalent in mechanical engineering and completion of technical apprenticeship scheme

* Microsoft Office applications

* Autodesk AutoCAD

* Autodesk Inventor

5. Experience

* 5 years in a similar role

* Fabrication design/detailing

* Machined parts design/detailing

* Appropriate use of tolerancing and GD&T
