Job Title: Junior Claims Handler (Marine)

Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Claims Handler to join our Marine Claims team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to begin or develop a career within the specialist field of marine insurance. You will support the handling of marine-related claims from initial notification through to settlement, working closely with experienced colleagues and a range of external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the handling of marine claims, including cargo, hull & machinery, and liability claims
- Log new claims and ensure all relevant information is accurately recorded
- Liaise with clients, brokers, insurers, surveyors, and other third parties
- Support the collection and review of documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, survey reports, and correspondence
- Monitor claim progress and ensure timely updates are issued to all relevant parties
- Assist with reserving and settlement processes under supervision
- Identify potential issues, discrepancies, or recovery opportunities (e.g. Subrogation)
- Maintain accurate and compliant records in line with internal procedures and regulatory standards
Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Interest in marine, shipping, or logistics industries (preferred)
- Previous experience in administration, insurance, or customer service is advantageous but not essential
