Role: Head of HR
Location: Kent, UK (onsite 3 days per week)
Remuneration: up to £120,000 Base, plus Bonus, Benefits and LTIP participation
A fast-growing, acquisitive engineering services group is seeking a commercially sharp Head of People / HR Director to play a pivotal role in its next stage of expansion.
Having completed multiple acquisitions in the past 12 months — with further growth planned — the business operates in specialist, skills-short technical markets where the ability to hire, develop and retain high-quality engineers directly determines growth.
This is not a steady-state HR role.
This is a growth-enablement mandate.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group MD, you will looking to elevate capabilities of the People function across the Group.
You will take full ownership of:
- M&A people integration across newly acquired businesses
- Professionalising HR operations, governance and systems across a multi-site group
- Payroll oversight, ensuring scalable, accurate and compliant processes
- Learning & Development strategy, including expanding the internal Academy and launching a structured Future Leaders programme
- Engineering recruitment strategy, including strengthening and potentially insourcing talent acquisition
- Building leadership capability and career pathways
- Workforce planning and retention strategy in talent-scarce markets
The organisation needs a People leader who can build infrastructure at pace, integrate businesses successfully, and maintain engagement through change.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a strategic but hands-on People leader with experience in high-growth, multi-site or acquisitive environments.
You will likely bring:
- Senior HR leadership experience (Head of People / HR Director level)
- Proven M&A integration experience (essential)
- Experience transforming or insourcing recruitment functions
- Experience overseeing payroll within, multi-site environments
- A track record of building structured L&D and leadership development programmes
- Strong commercial acumen and executive-level credibility
- CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) – essential
- Experience operating in technical, engineering, construction, infrastructure or similarly skills-short sectors (advantageous)
This role requires someone comfortable balancing strategy with execution — a builder, not a maintainer.
Why This Role?
- Central to value creation in a scaling group
- Direct CEO exposure and genuine influence
- Opportunity to build a best-in-class People function
- Exposure to acquisition activity at pace
- Long-term value participation via LTIP
If you’re a growth-oriented, CIPD-qualified HR leader who thrives in acquisitive environments and wants real impact, we’d welcome a confidential conversation.
