Overview
An established and well-regarded law firm based in Tamworth is seeking a proactive and organised Family Legal Assistant to join its busy Family Law Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal assistant or aspiring paralegal to develop their career within a supportive and client-focused team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting fee earners across a broad range of privately funded family matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing administrative and legal support to family fee earners
- Preparing and drafting correspondence, court documents and bundles
- Assisting with divorce, financial remedy, children matters and injunction proceedings
- Liaising with clients, courts, counsel and third parties
- Managing diaries, appointments and key court deadlines
- Opening and closing files in accordance with compliance procedures
- Conducting legal research where required
- Preparing trial/hearing bundles (electronic and hard copy)
- Ensuring files are maintained in accordance with SRA and internal standards

- Divorce and separation
- Financial settlements
- Private children arrangements
- Domestic abuse / non-molestation applications
- Cohabitation disputes
- Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements
Person Specification
Essential:
- Previous experience in a family law department
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Professional and empathetic approach when dealing with sensitive matters
Desirable:
- Experience preparing court bundles
- Experience using digital dictation systems
