We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Head of College for this newly created role at a time of expansion and development.

Based at our new site, Coleg Ty’r Eithin in Carmarthenshire, set to open in September 2026, this role offers the chance to shape and lead a growing provision.

As the Head of College, you will lead the delivery of Ruskin Mill Trust’s unique Practical Skills Therapeutic Education approach and work closely with the Executive Principal to ensure the day-to-day operational management of the site, ensuring that provision is of a high and consistent standard, and that the college continues to thrive.

This is a role for a collaborative, resilient, and emotionally intelligent leader who can build strong partnerships, develop Welsh language provision, oversee admissions, and represent the college with confidence across local authorities, community organisations, and national bodies.

    Main Duties:

    • Lead the day to day running of the college, ensuring the operational management of the site and provision is of a high and consistent standard
    • Build strong relationships with staff, parents, commissioners and the local community, including developing Social Enterprise opportunities for learners
    • Oversee safeguarding as the Designated Safeguarding Person and ensure health, safety and wellbeing are exemplary across the site
    • Support admissions, host open days, and ensure programmes meet Welsh Government requirements
    • Promote and develop Welsh language provision within the college
    • Lead quality assurance, self-assessment and improvement planning, ensuring that data sets and analysis of information are used effectively
    • Uphold and model the Trust’s values, including its paradigm of biodynamic agriculture, anthroposophical medicine and Steiner informed education.

    You must have:

    • PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent teaching qualification
    • Experience working with students aged 16–25 with complex needs
    • Proven experience leading teams and improving educational performance
    • A track record of contributing to the success of a department or organisation through leadership, ethos and results
    • Experience implementing quality assurance processes to address concerns or drive improvement
    • Knowledge of the ALN Code of Practice and current educational frameworks
    • Understanding of Rudolf Steiner Holistic Education
    • High levels of adaptability, resilience, emotional intelligence and initiative.

Working at Ruskin Mill Trust is incredibly rewarding; we offer competitive salaries and holiday allowances, an auto-enrolment pension scheme with a salary sacrifice option, a health cash plan and employee assistance programme via Medicash.

In addition, staff receive valuable training opportunities including an in-depth interactive induction to enable our new team members to experience our Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum and opportunities for further training and academic research including our own MSc in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.
