Program Manager Decarbonisation Analytics

PURPOSE:

As a Program Manager Decarbonisation Analytics in our Decarbonization Team, you will play a pivotal role in developing a strategy to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the most cost optimal manner. Your expertise in the development of decarbonisation strategies, GHG footprinting and forecasting, and your strategic & analytical acumen will help us achieve our commitment to reach Net-Zero by 2040.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Baselining: lead GHG emissions baselining
2. Modelling and target setting: Lead the development and modelling of GHG abatement levers including assessment of abatement potential, abatement cost, technological maturity etc. To help inform strategy development & target setting
3. Financial assessment: Lead the development of Marginal Abatement Cost assessments to inform the most cost optimal pathway to achieve emissions reductions
4. Reporting: Lead the identification, development and implementation of GHG reporting system(s) and process(es) that enable periodic reporting of audit-proof GHG emissions
5. Transformation roadmap development: Support with and co-create the development of decarbonisation strategies and transformation roadmaps
6. Scope 3: lead the development of an APMT specific scope 3 strategy, including baselining, target setting and abatement pathway modelling
7. Stakeholder engagement: collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the preparation of SteerCo, Problem Solve and other key workshop materials
8. Tech Development: Work with global Tech functions to define and develop Tech solutions to enable automated, self-service analytical tools, with a focus on scope 3
9. Market Intelligence: Stay informed about emerging trends in decarbonisation, with a focus on decarbonisation analytics and reporting, e.g. On technology, regulations, standards etc.

REPORTING AND SCOPE:

1. As a core member of the decarbonisation team, you will be working in close cooperation with many global functions esp. The Energy Transition team, Finance and APMT’s Global Technical Functions
2. Geographical Scope: based in Netherlands with Global scope

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience in the transport sector, maritime and container terminals in particular, preferred; or appetite and ability to go through a steep learning curve over a short period of time
2. 6+ years of experience in a relevant field/role
3. Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Energy Technology, Energy Science or a related field
4. Deep expertise in development of decarbonisation strategies, GHG footprints and GHG emissions abatement models
5. Solid understanding of financial analysis, including NPV calculations and assessing financial impacts of decarbonisation levers on company-wide financial metrics such as EBIT, EBITDA, FCF and ROIC
6. Knowledge of and experience with developing and improving GHG reporting systems and processes
7. Working knowledge of key GHG- emissions and decarbonisation standards and frameworks including: GHG Protocol, Science-Based Targets initiative, CDP etc.
8. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel & Powerpoint), proficiency with RStudio and PowerBI considered a plus
9. Understanding and knowledge of latest decarbonisation related regulation, including EU ETS, CBAM and CSRD
10. Excellent English written and verbal communication
11. Mobility as some global travel might be required in this role
