What will you do as a Fullstack Mobile Developer?

As a Fullstack Mobile Developer, you will join Team Map and contribute to the continued development of the NS app across both Android and iOS platforms. Together with UX designers, business analysts, developers, and the Product Owner, you will create intuitive digital experiences that improve the journey of millions of travelers.

Your expertise and passion for mobile development will help shape new features while continuously improving existing functionality.

Your responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining features for both Android and iOS applications.
• Building user-friendly solutions for journey planning, booking flows, mobility services, and customer interactions.
• Translating functional and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Writing high-quality, maintainable code and improving existing codebases.
• Increasing the quality, reliability, and scalability of the NS app.
• Implementing automated tests and maintaining strong code coverage.
• Contributing to architectural decisions and engineering best practices.
• Working closely with your DevOps team in an Agile/Scrum environment.

You will join Team Map, part of the Passenger Experience domain at NS. The team plays an important role in connecting train travel with additional mobility services such as OV-fiets, parking solutions, and shared mobility providers.

The team consists of:

• Mobile Developers (Android & iOS)
• Backend Developers
• Business Analysts
• Scrum Master
• Product Owner

Together, you develop digital mobility solutions that support travelers before, during, and after their journey.

You can work hybrid from our modern headquarters next to Utrecht Central Station or from home.

In addition, you will become part of the wider NS mobile community, where Android and iOS developers regularly exchange knowledge, discuss technical challenges, and shape the future of mobile development within NS.

Help us connect every part of the passenger journey

Team MAPS develops the technology behind shared and integrated mobility at NS. From booking shared vehicles and taxis through MAAS-API and APP-TAXI-BFF-API, to mobility options and Greenwheels registration via MODALITY-API/BFF.

Our landscape also includes the serverless SHARED-INTEGRATED-MOBILITY-BOOKING, the Mendix application DELTA, and PLACES-API with OpenSearch for stops, OV-fiets, parking and station information. STATION-FACILITIES-STATUS-API adds facility status data, while NEAR-ME helps travellers discover nearby mobility options, facilities and departure times.

You are a driven mobile developer who enjoys collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.

You also have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience developing Android and/or iOS applications in a Scrum or DevOps environment.
• Experience with:
  • Android: Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, and Jetpack Compose.
  • iOS: Swift, SwiftUI, and Combine.
• Experience with Clean Architecture.
• Experience with automated testing.
• Knowledge of modern software engineering principles and best practices.
• Strong communication skills.
• A proactive, curious, and results-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in either Dutch or English.

• A salary in Scale 60, ranging from €3,743 to €6,491 gross per month (based on a 36-hour workweek and depending on your experience)
• The opportunity to work from home and enjoy flexible working hours (by mutual agreement)
• A 36-hour working week
• A 3% year-end bonus, 8% holiday allowance, and an excellent pension scheme
• A permanent contract after one year, subject to good performance
• Free travel by train in 2nd class; travel in 1st class is available for a small personal contribution
• Your family can travel free of charge during off-peak hours
• 144 hours of statutory leave (based on full-time employment), plus additional leave depending on age (at least one extra week)
• The option to exchange three Christian public holidays for three non-Christian public holidays
• Discounts on European rail travel after one year of employment with NS
