Are you looking for a challenging and educational internship or graduation assignment in the field of autonomous robotics? Would you like to apply the theoretical knowledge that you've obtained during your studies on advanced simulations of autonomous robots? Then you are at the right place at Demcon Defense & Security Systems!
About Demcon
Demcon develops and produces high-end technology and complex systems, from concept to series production. Driven by the ambition to solve societal and technological challenges, we combine in-depth engineering expertise with creativity to deliver solutions that make a real impact. We build prototypes, industrialize, and manufacture innovative systems, with a strong focus on mechatronics. In doing so, we bring together mechanical, electrical, and software engineering with disciplines such as robotics, optics, and data science. This allows us to support customers throughout the entire product lifecycle. The Demcon Group consists of over 50 specialized companies that together form a one-stop shop for high-tech innovation. With more than 1,100 colleagues worldwide, we are building the technology of tomorrow.
Your assignment
Demcon Defense & Security Systems is developing unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for various projects and purposes, including autonomous outdoor, off-road navigation. In these projects the HMI plays a vital role in both the development process and the usability of the UGV. Therefore, Demcon has created its own Human Machine Interface (HMI) which allows the user to control the UGV. Your assignment is to extend the HMI to visualize the different steps of the UGV's software. You will need to identify which data the developers would like to see and then decide how this data can be visualized. For example, by using a camera overlay. You will need to determine the best way to transport data such as cost maps, planned paths, elevation maps and decide what needs to be processed at the vehicle or HMI side. Depending on your background and educational requirements, the assignment can be adapted to a graduation assignment or into an internship.
