At Bunk, our restaurant is full every day, from morning to late, kicking off with hotel guests over breakfast and finishing off with locals enjoying our cultural programming. Inspired by the monumental church which we call home, our menu features local, seasonal ingredients prepared traditionally: smoked, cured, pickled, marinated and stewed. Fresh produce is at the heart of each dish, which we cook straight from our heart, too. Our guests enjoy their food seated at our long tables, perfect for connecting with friends, both old and new.

You’re a passionate chef with a natural talent for leading people. You know how to keep a kitchen running smoothly, whether it’s a calm breakfast service or a packed evening in our church hall. You’re organised, proactive and always one step ahead. You know exactly what needs to happen, who needs support and how to keep standards high without losing sight of the people around you.

As a Sous Chef (Junior), you’re an important support to the Head Chef and kitchen leadership team. You help lead the kitchen team, coach and develop colleagues and take ownership of the operation when the Head Chef is away. You lead by example, stay calm under pressure and understand that consistency, cleanliness and teamwork are just as important as creativity.

You love working with seasonal ingredients and bold flavours, and you're constantly looking for ways to improve dishes, processes and the guest experience. Most importantly, you enjoy building a team culture where people can grow, perform and have fun doing it.

In Bunk’s monumental churches, you’ll find a cross between a hostel, a hotel, a restaurant, a coworking space, an art gallery, a cultural event venue, a traveller’s gem and a local favourite. On a typical day, our monumental church hall is filled with diners enjoying dishes from all over the world prepared with local ingredients (with a Bunk twist, of course), flex workers putting the finishing touches on their projects, backpackers catching some good sleep on a budget in our pods, culture vultures enjoying our free events and curious travellers heading out on adventures before making their way back to their rooms.

• This position is open to candidates who are legally permitted to work and currently live in the Netherlands

• You have at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role within a professional kitchen

• You have experience managing teams during high-volume service

• You are confident in stock management, ordering and controlling food costs

• You understand HACCP procedures and food safety standards inside out

• You are available to work evenings, weekends and holidays when needed

• You communicate clearly and professionally in English

• You take ownership, show initiative and aren't afraid to make decisions

• You enjoy coaching others and helping your team grow
