In the role of Principal Consultant, you will anchor the engagement effort for assignments, covering business process consulting, problem definition, solution design, development, and deployment. You will guide teams on project processes and deliverables and serve as the key advisor on architecture and design reviews. You will also lead business pursuit initiatives, client training, and in‑house capability building.
Key Responsibilities- Own end‑to‑end WMS solution architecture using Blue Yonder WMS Discrete
- Lead warehouse process design covering inbound, outbound, inventory, and value‑added services
- Translate business strategy into scalable, efficient WMS solution designs
- Define global warehouse operating models and configuration standards
- Design future‑state solutions factoring:
- Volume growth
- Automation
- Performance, scalability, and resiliency
- Lead multiple WMS workstreams across implementation, rollout, and upgrade programs
- Drive requirements workshops with senior business stakeholders
- Review and approve functional designs, configurations, and extensions
- Provide design governance and ensure adherence to architecture standards
- Support cutover, go‑live, and hypercare phases for critical warehouse launches
- Provide expert guidance on:
- Receiving & putaway strategies
- Inventory & slotting design
- Discrete, batch, wave picking
- Replenishment & allocation logic
- Packing, shipping, and carrier integration
- Exception handling & operational controls
- Guide optimal usage of:
- BY WMS rules, workflows, and configurations
- RF processes and task management
- Extensions vs standard functionality decisions
- Define and govern integrations with:
- ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- TMS solutions
- Automation systems (conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, AMRs)
- Partner and 3PL systems
- Review interface designs, data flows, and error‑handling strategies
- Ensure solution aligns with enterprise architecture and IT security standards
- Provide technical and functional leadership to consultants and developers
- Mentor team members on best practices and advanced WMS concepts
- Act as escalation point for complex design or production issues
- Contribute to practice development, templates, accelerators, and standards
- Core Skills
- Deep hands‑on experience with Blue Yonder WMS – Discrete
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and supply chain execution
- Proven experience leading large‑scale WMS implementations
- Strong solution design, architecture, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience working with global or multi‑warehouse footprints
