Position: Senior People Country Manager – Netherlands
Your new roleYou will lead the delivery of the People agenda in the Netherlands while providing oversight and support to local people teams in other European countries, partnering closely with leadership to build capability, strengthen culture, and ensure compliant and efficient People operations across multiple countries.
Key responsibilities- Successfully manage annual processes (e.g., salary review, annual bonus, performance cycle, headcount and people cost budgeting) to ensure effective, timely and compliant delivery.
- Define and implement the local People strategy with local management, aligned to enterprise and regional priorities.
- Promote and embed QBE values and essential behaviours (QBE DNA) through leadership coaching, engagement actions and day‑to‑day People practice.
- Help define and implement actions across development planning, coaching, training, succession planning, and identification of key talent.
- Attract, develop and retain a high‑quality team in the Netherlands with the knowledge and skills to deliver excellent People outcomes and service.
- Support recruitment, retention and performance management practices, ensuring role clarity and a strong work environment.
- Coach, educate and support business leaders on employee relations issues and projects, ensuring practical, flexible and commercial solutions.
- Ensure follow‑up of legal aspects by staying up to date with new legislation, anticipating impacts and taking necessary actions; maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply QBE Group remuneration policy and support all local legal requirements; optimise benefits in line with market practice.
- Ensure reward and People processes are delivered accurately and consistently, supported by strong data, controls and disciplined governance.
- Comply with all relevant local regulatory requirements and applicable group requirements.
- Represent the local entity in projects and initiatives, ensuring local requirements are understood and successfully implemented; lead and project manage People change initiatives within your area of responsibility.
- Oversee the monitoring and review of People processes to identify improvements, enhance efficiency and reflect latest developments and best practice; actively undertake personal development and network internally and externally to share knowledge and improve performance.
- Proven experience as a People Country Manager (or equivalent senior HR/People lead), preferably within a regulated services industry and ideally in an international matrix organisation environment.
- High level of written and spoken Dutch and English.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to set direction and deliver through others.
- Excellent communicator with strong facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation skills (oral and written).
- Team management experience is a nice to have.
- Ability to architect strategy alongside hands‑on operational execution.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- In‑depth knowledge of Dutch labour law and HR best practices.
- Change management capability and experience leading initiatives in complex environments.
