The RIPE NCC Legal Team is seeking a reliable and organised Legal Counsel to help support daily operational activities in our Amsterdam office’s Legal Department. We are a team of five lawyers responsible for all legal aspects of the organisation. We define the RIPE NCC’s legal framework and provide legal advice and support across the organisation. We work closely together as a team, while also giving you the opportunity to work independently.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is reliable, organised, and has good verbal and written communication skills. Integrity is also a crucial aspect of the role.

What you will be doing You will be supporting the Legal Department’s work on:
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies and procedures, including researching, analysing and interpreting law and its impact on the organisation’s operations.
  • Enhancing the legal framework of the organisation and services, through the drafting of agreements and T&Cs, organisational procedures, and policies.
  • Providing legal advice to colleagues and departments, through managing a variety of assigned legal activities and projects.
  • Supporting the Arbiter’s secretariat in all its administrative and legal duties within the scope of the function assigned to or required within the RIPE NCC.
Required qualifications and experience
  • Master’s degree in Law (LLM).
  • Minimum 0-2 years of experience.
  • A fast learner with strong analytical skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural environment.

  • A sport hour per week for doing sports or fitness during work hours.
  • A home office furniture budget for a healthy, ARBO-proof work setup at home.
  • An organisation-wide internal training programme designed to develop critical soft skills—like feedback, resilience and leadership—giving you the tools to excel in your career and beyond.
  • An in-house free barista providing healthy varied lunches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and nice breakfasts on Thursdays, plus monthly office social events.
  • Casual team events such as team outings, an annual Christmas party and a summer BBQ.

Please note that, due to the nature of our activities, we will require successful candidates to follow a pre-employment screening (conducted by our partner DISA). This involves carrying out a background check and sharing education certificates.
