This role is based within our Direct Tax Accounting & Compliance team, managing a wide range of tax compliance and tax accounting for multiple Trafigura entities across various jurisdictions. You will work together and have support from the Amsterdam Schiphol based direct tax team, but you are expected to be self-driven and proactive in handling your responsibilities. As a more senior member of the team, you will be responsible for deliverables but can leverage resources from our tax compliance team in Mumbai.You will work closely with our global teams based in Amsterdam Schiphol, Mumbai, Montevideo, and Geneva. It is essential that the Manager Direct Tax Accounting & Compliance has the same spirit and drive to push the business forward.The role plays a vital part in minimizing tax risks, optimizing tax positions.Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance:Prepare and file Dutch corporate income tax returns, including Pillar 2 returns and relating tax compliance activities like monitoring filing deadlines, review tax assessments and ensure timely tax payments are made etc.Coordinate with external tax advisors for preparation, review and filing of non-Dutch income tax returns, including Pillar 2 returnsAssist in international tax audits and information requests, taking the lead responsibility for less complex matters and coordination activitiesCollate and analyse data from various teams to determine taxability of transactionsTransfer Pricing Compliance:Coordinate with tax advisors for preparation of local files including benchmarksMaintain an accurate and up-to-date register of Local Files and Master FilesPrepare new local files with support from the Direct Tax TeamMonitor and control worldwide transfer pricing obligationsProvide numerical and accounting support for intercompany arrangementsTax Accounting:Prepare monthly tax provisioning, including Pillar 2 calculationsEnsure tax provisions align with management expectations and filed returns/assessmentsEnsure tax risks are properly translated into the financial statementsTax ControlsIn cooperation with the Tax Department, perform regular testing and monitoring of tax controls to ensure effectiveness and identify control deficienciesDevelop and maintain comprehensive documentation of tax control processes, procedures and work instructionsIdentify opportunities, including but not limited to technology solutions to enhance control processes, improve data quality and real-time tax risk monitoring.Support:Provide accounting and analytical support to the Direct Tax Team on multi-jurisdictional projectsPreferred Qualifications:Education:Master's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related fieldExperience:7+ years of relevant experience of tax compliance activities (including preparation of tax returns) and tax accounting activitiesExperience with transfer pricing matters and complianceProfessional consulting services firm and/or in-house tax experience requiredExperience working with multiple jurisdictions (particularly European entities)Pillar 2 experience highly desirable given recent implementationTechnical Skills:Understanding of tax regulationsUnderstanding of transfer pricing principlesUnderstanding of treatment of tax matters under accounting standards (IFRS, Dutch GAAP, or US GAAP)Experience extracting and analysing data from accounting/consolidation/ERP systems (Oracle, OneStream or similar)Microsoft Excel skills requiredAbility to work with various IT systems and adapt to new processesLanguage Skills:Fluent English (written and verbal) requiredDutch language skills preferred for local tax authority interactionsKey Competencies:Analytical mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detailProject management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlinesCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skillsCollaboration: Team player who works effectively both independently and in groupsProactive approach: Self-starter with enthusiasm for new challengesAdaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentKey Relationships:Direct Tax Accounting & Compliance team (Amsterdam Schiphol, Mumbai, Montevideo)Group Reporting team (Amsterdam Schiphol, Mumbai)Tax department (Amsterdam Schiphol and global locations)Accounting teams worldwideExternal tax advisorsTax authorities worldwideReporting Structure:This role reports to the Group Tax Accounting Manager in Amsterdam Schiphol and is part of the Direct Tax Accounting & Compliance team within Group Reporting and dotted line to the Global Head of Direct TaxEqual Opportunity Employer:We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and take pride in a diverse workforce!
