The Operational Analyst will be responsible for collecting, processing and analysing data, and disseminating analytical findings to a wide range of stakeholders in the context of serious organised crime and terrorist investigations. The post may be based in any department of the Operations Directorate.
This position may involve participation in a shift system, including weekends, nights, and on‑call duties.
Responsibilities- Perform analytical tasks, including gathering, processing and analysing data on various topics, especially high priority cases.
- Draft intelligence analysis reports across crime areas.
- Process and analyse large and complex data sets.
- Participate in meetings, working groups and conferences, presenting analytical results as required.
- Provide on‑the‑spot analytical support for specific operational activities and events.
- Perform any other duties within the relevant area as assigned by the line manager.
- Member of a competent authority and enjoy full rights as a citizen of a Member State.
- Fulfil obligations relating to military service as required by applicable law.
- Provide character references proving suitability for the duties.
- Physically fit to perform the duties, as specified in Article 13 of the CEOS.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of at least one Union language and satisfactory knowledge of another, sufficient for the role.
- Completed university studies for at least three years, attested by a diploma, or equivalent professional training plus the required professional experience as outlined.
- Minimum 5 years of operational intelligence analysis in areas such as Counter‑Terrorism, Financial and Economic Crime, Cybercrime, or Serious and Organised Crime. Candidates must provide real case examples in their application.
- Experience drafting operational intelligence reports and demonstrating impact on investigations.
- Experience with analytical software for operational analysis and with data exploration, advanced analytics, scripting, and graphical analysis.
- Proficiency in analysis techniques for large and complex data sets, including open source, geospatial, financial and cybercrime data.
- In‑depth knowledge of operational intelligence analysis, techniques, tools, investigative methods, and legal requirements.
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written, and ability to draft clear analytical documents for varied audiences.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and competence with Microsoft Office applications.
- High commitment, flexibility, customer‑orientation, organisational skills, and ability to work effectively in an international, multi‑cultural environment.
- Interpersonal skills to work independently and in a team, resilience under heavy workload, and adaptability to a shift system.
The gross basic monthly salary is €6 961,69 (step 1) or €7 253,84 (step 2). The salary step is based on professional experience gained after the education required.
Allowances may include expatriation allowance (16 % of basic gross salary), foreign residence allowance (4 %), household allowance and child/education allowance, subject to conditions.

Contract type: Administrative post (Group AD 6), 5‑year initial term, renewable once, for 40 hours per week.
Probationary period of 9 months, subject to termination per CEOS provisions.
Security clearance required: CONFIDENTIAL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL, plus a valid certificate of good conduct issued within three months of employment.
