Maydaywokengo is a Chinese restaurant looking for a passionate and motivated Independent Working Chef I to join our kitchen team. We are seeking someone who enjoys working in a dynamic kitchen environment and takes pride in preparing high-quality dishes. You will work closely with our team to maintain excellent food quality, hygiene, and kitchen organization.
Tasks
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, mixing, and organizing food items
- Cook and prepare dishes according to restaurant standards and recipes
- Monitor taste, texture, color, and presentation of dishes and make adjustments when necessary
- Maintain consistent quality, cleanliness, and food safety standards
- Supervise and support kitchen assistants and junior staff when required
- Monitor stock levels, order ingredients, and inspect deliveries
- Clean kitchen equipment, workstations, and kitchen areas daily
- Report technical issues and solve simple equipment malfunctions
- Provide input for menu development and improvements in cooking methods
Requirements
Job Requirements
- Passion for cooking and working in a professional kitchen environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong sense of responsibility and initiative
- Problem-solving and organized working attitude
- Intermediate vocational education (MBO Level 3 / EQF Level 3) preferred
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
- Previous kitchen experience is an advantage, but motivated candidates are encouraged to apply
