Senior UX/UI Designer

At Essense we believe in driving customer centric collaboration to drive the world forward. Our UX, UI and Visual designers play a crucial role in this. We’re looking for versatile designers who can translate customer needs – across the whole customer journey – into the best omnichannel experiences for our clients.

As a Senior UX / UI Designer you are responsible for creating state‑of‑the‑art interfaces that not only look good but also give users the ultimate user experience. At Essense we work on designing digital services in the context of the entire customer experience. You analyse our clients’ challenges, communicate these to the client and our team, and respond with an approach to improve the user experience in collaboration with the client.

You can independently lead projects, partly at Essense and partly on location at the client. You are able to create and deliver designs yourself, as well as manage other UX, UI and Visual designers and monitor progress. It is important that you have a great sense of responsibility and can guarantee the quality of your own work as well as that of others. You act as a partner to the client, inspiring and facilitating, and as a leader to our own team, guiding and motivating. You work methodically and can determine a good strategy and vision on the basis of research and insights, translating these into design principles. You think from the perspective of the entire journey and can demonstrate that your solutions actually bring improvement and deliver value for user and business. You can also work well with development teams to ensure your designs are correctly implemented.

You are an expert in interaction design, prototyping and experience flows and understand the role and value of Experience Design in relation to Service Design. You can advise on the best approach to use UX / UI design, both for large organisations and small ones, in various forms. You are familiar with usability patterns and research methods. You understand the essence of a design system and design principles, and can help clients set them up and apply them properly.

You continuously develop your knowledge and skills, and are happy to share these with others, both within and outside Essense. You like to put your teeth into a project to surprise the client with creative solutions. For you, quality and the best end result are among the most important elements in your work.

• A completed design education (university / higher education)
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience, preferably at an agency
• Experience in leading UX projects and managing other designers
• Able to use a wide range of software / tools (Sketch, Figma, Illustrator, etc.)
• An impressive portfolio with proven expertise in UX
• A passion for creating beautiful services
• Fluent English and Dutch language skills
