What you’ll do 

 

As Senior Foreign Service National Investigator (Security Investigator) you serve as the Regional Security Office’s (RSO) primary outreach and liaison to host government law enforcement and security entities, and as the principal and recognized authoritative security advisor to the Regional Security Officer (RSO) and Chief of Mission (COM), particularly as it relates to security programs which require extensive coordination with the host nation and/or security programs which may be particularly complex or demanding based on local environment. You will supervise the Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) Unit. You will oversee the range of investigations conducted at post to include background investigations, as well as directly conducting special and sensitive cases for the RSO, and other complex investigations on behalf of associated agencies at post. You will facilitate the protection of post personnel and visiting U.S. government officials. You will manage all aspects of host nation capacity building and coordinates host nation role in post’s emergency preparedness programs. You will be responsible for the long-term and strategic planning of security and law enforcement initiatives with the host nation. Security program(s) require more coordination with the host nation than what is typical due to frequency or complexity. 

 

What we ask (minimal requirements to apply) 

 

For the experience and education requirements applicants must meet either option 1 or option 2. 

 

Option 1: 

  • Education: University Degree (B.S.) in law enforcement, criminology, or host country equivalent is required; AND 

  • Experience: At least five years as a professional investigator or special agent with substantive experience conducting complex & high-profile investigations (for example, fraud or organized crime) that require a mastery of investigative techniques and comprehensive knowledge of local legal procedures and host nation government law enforcement and security agency structures and operations. Please address this factor in your ERA application under Major Duties and Responsibilities. 

 

OR 

 

Option 2: 

  • Education: At least 2 years college or university studies (no specific field required) is required; AND  

  • Experience: At least seven years as a professional investigator or special agent with substantive experience conducting complex & high-profile investigations (for example, fraud or organized crime) that require a mastery of investigative techniques and comprehensive knowledge of local legal procedures and host nation government law enforcement and security agency structures and operations. 

 

Additional minimum qualifications: 

  • Must have a valid, current driver’s license Class B. To drive a government vehicle must be 25 years of age or older OR have had a valid driver’s license B for a minimum of five years. 

  • Fluent speaking/reading/writing in English and fluent speaking/reading/writing in Dutch is required. This may be tested. 

 

All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Ministry of Safety and Justice of the Netherlands. 

 

What we offer 

 

  • Annual salary of €67,158 - €94,024 

  • 8.33 % End of year bonus (13th month)
