At Thermeleon, we are developing the world’s first passive Heat Battery for high‑tech greenhouses, and we are looking for a working student or intern who enjoys turning complex climate datasets into clear, actionable insights. If you have a scientific mindset, enjoy exploring real‑world data, and take pride in presenting your findings in a way that is both accurate and engaging, this role will suit you well.
You will directly contribute to our mission “Towards Climate Neutral Horticulture”, supporting growers in reducing energy use, improving crop performance, and moving toward a more resilient, low‑carbon future.
Our passive Heat Battery requires no energy input and delivering 10–30% energy savings while structurally rethinking how thermal energy is stored and managed in greenhouses. As part of our team, you will help translate raw climate data into insights that guide this transition and support the next generation of sustainable horticulture.
Tasks
- You will help develop a scalable data‑analysis framework that can be applied to new clients and evolving datasets. This framework will streamline future analyses and support consistent, repeatable insight generation.
- You will lead the continued development and management of our central database, ensuring all processed data and insights are structured for long-term accessibility and scalable analysis
- You will analyze large, multi‑source greenhouse datasets to uncover thermal, energy, and climate insights. Your work supports understanding heat flux behavior, temperature cycles, and environmental interactions.
- You will generate comparative insights across multiple client sites, both before and after demo installations. This helps quantify the impact of new technologies and supports evidence‑based decision.
- You will evaluate performance of the Heat Battery across different configurations, compartments, and environmental conditions. These analyses help quantify system efficiency and guide future design improvements.
- You will investigate vertical and spatial climate patterns that contribute to understanding how climate behaves in real greenhouse environments.
- You will validate and correlate sensor systems which ensure data reliability and enables deeper interpretation of greenhouse climate dynamics.
Requirements
- HBO or university student in a technical field (e.g. Physics, Computer Science, Engineering).
- Proficiency in Python for scientific data analysis and working with time‑series datasets.
- Willingness and interest to learn how to build dashboards and work with databases to effectively structure and visualize data.
- Strong communicator who can translate complex analyses into clear, understandable insights for the team and clients.
- Works accurately and takes ownership of data quality.
Benefits
- Make an impact: Your analyses directly contribute to our mission of achieving climate-neutral greenhouse horticulture.
- Professional growth: Learn all about data architecture, real-world sensor data, and the practical application of Data Science in a hardware environment.
- Innovative environment: Work in the iconic Van Nelle Factory as part of an ambitious, multidisciplinary team.
- Network: Get the opportunity to exchange ideas with industry partners, from growers to sensor suppliers.
- Flexibility: A part-time job that fits perfectly alongside your studies, with room for initiative and strategic thinking.
We are a driven team with a passion for technology and sustainability. Every Friday, we organize a “Learning Session” to share knowledge and wrap up the week together.
At Thermeleon, we strive for diversity. Do you feel excited about the role but don’t tick every box yet? We would especially love to hear from you! We’re looking for talent that wants to grow with us.
