The Role: We are seeking a Senior Tax Consultant – Indirect Tax to join the Booking Holdings, Inc. Tax organization in Amsterdam and be part of the recently established BHI indirect tax function supporting Booking Holdings’ portfolio of global brands, including Booking.com, Priceline, Agoda, KAYAK and OpenTable. This important cross-brand role focuses primarily on monitoring indirect tax developments, developing policy positions and supporting the implementation of new regulatory requirements across Booking Holdings’ brands. Operational activities such as day-to-day tax compliance, tax authority audits and product-level tax assessments remain primarily within the individual brands, while this role helps ensure that (new) tax rules and policy interpretations are consistently understood and, where appropriate, applied across the organization.

As indirect tax rules continue to evolve globally—particularly for digital platforms and marketplaces—this role supports the analysis of new VAT/GST and other indirect tax legislation across multiple jurisdictions, entities and business models. The role therefore requires the ability to navigate diverse products and operating models and apply indirect tax rules in a practical, business-focused manner. The position involves hands-on execution and independent first-level technical analysis and judgment, with appropriate escalation. Responsibilities include interpreting legislation, identifying potential business and operational implications, preparing structured analyses and documentation, and supporting the implementation of indirect tax requirements across the organization.

• Monitor and analyze indirect tax developments globally, including VAT/GST and other transaction taxes (such as tourist or city taxes), with particular attention to rules affecting digital platforms and online travel business models.
• Interpret new indirect tax legislation and support the development of internal policy positions by assessing how regulatory changes apply to Booking Holdings’ business models and activities.
• Assess the implications of new indirect tax rules for Booking Holdings’ business models and activities and help translate regulatory developments into practical guidance and policy interpretations for internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with tax, finance, legal and technology teams to support the implementation of new indirect tax requirements across relevant business processes and operational frameworks.
• Help ensure that new indirect tax rules and policy interpretations are consistently understood and applied across Booking Holdings’ brands where appropriate.
• Prepare technical analyses, internal memoranda and guidance materials and support collaboration with external tax advisors on complex indirect tax matters.

• Bachelor's degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; a Master's degree in Tax or similar is preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in indirect tax within an international environment, either in-house or in a professional services firm
• Solid understanding of VAT/GST and other transaction-based taxes, preferably within digital, technology or online service environments
• Experience interpreting tax legislation and translating regulatory developments into practical guidance for business stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure complex tax issues clearly and concisely
• Ability to work effectively across multiple jurisdictions and business models within a multinational organization
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders
• Highly organized, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced international environment without constant supervision
• Experience with digital platform, marketplace or online travel business models preferred
• Experience working in cross-border or multinational tax environments preferred
• Experience working collaboratively with business, finance and legal teams on tax matters preferred
• Familiarity with AI and research tools preferred
