For them we are recruiting a QHSE Coordinator - Designated Person Ashore (DPA).
In this role you combine hands‑on QHSE responsibilities with the statutory DPA function, playing a key role in safe operations, compliance, and continuous improvement across the fleet. You will be part of the QHSE team of three colleagues and contribute actively to strengthening the safety culture both onshore and offshore. The position involves close cooperation with Crewing, Operations, Technical and Vessel Management, as well as regular interaction with authorities, flag states and classification societies. You report to the Head of Operations & QHSE.
What will you do?- Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of QHSE policies, procedures and standards according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Actively promote a proactive safety culture onshore and offshore.
- Coordinate and support QHSE training and awareness programmes for vessel crews and shore‑based staff.
- Participate in incident investigations, root‑cause analyses and follow‑up of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support QHSE reporting, safety KPIs and data analysis.
- Provide practical QHSE advice to operational teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QHSE domain.
- Support the effective implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS) across the fleet.
- Act as the statutory communication link between vessels and shore management for safety and compliance matters.
- Monitor and support compliance with the ISM Code, IMO regulations and applicable maritime legislation.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
- Liaise with flag states, classification societies, authorities and external stakeholders.
- Support vessel crews during external audits, inspections and certifications.
- Monitor availability of adequate resources to ensure safe vessel operations and escalated concerns when required.
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO) or equivalent maritime education; sailing experience is a strong advantage.
- DPA certificate or willingness to obtain one and experience as DPA.
- Solid knowledge of the ISM Code, IMO regulations and QHSE standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Minimum five years of working and/or sailing experience in the maritime or offshore industry.
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS), audits and incident investigations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with both crews and office teams.
- Structured and pragmatic working style, proactive, solution-oriented and flexible in an operational environment.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage.
