Join LuminAir, the award‑winning rooftop bar and terrace soaring above the skyline of Amsterdam. Known for its ever‑changing ambiance, world‑class mixology, immersive cocktail concepts, and panoramic views, LuminAir is a destination that evolves from sunrise to late night. As Bar Manager, you will lead one of the city’s most innovative beverage‑led venues, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and driving the creative spirit LuminAir is known for.

 As the Bar Manager, you are the driving force behind the venue’s operational excellence, creative direction, and guest reputation. You lead a high‑performing bar team, elevate beverage innovation, maintain brand‑defining service standards, and ensure the venue continues to operate at an award‑winning level with immersive drinks programming and a signature cocktail menu.
You combine hands‑on leadership with strategic oversight, empowering your team to exceed expectations and crafting an atmosphere guests will return to again and again. You oversee all bar‑related operations within LuminAir and report directly to the LuminAir General Manager. In the absence of the General Manager, you also hold a dotted‑line responsibility for supporting and overseeing the floor operations to ensure seamless day‑to‑day continuity.

 Our rooftop bar and terrace, LuminAir (also known as “THE BAR ABOVE AMSTERDAM”), is an inspiring destination from day to night, set in an ever‑changing space where neither the view outside nor the ambiance inside is ever the same twice. LuminAir Amsterdam is a drink‑led venue featuring world‑class mixology and exclusively crafted cocktails inspired by the intensity of light and global winds.

The food menu offers modern Dutch and international bites, finger foods, and sharing plates, while the Eclipse menu—for semi‑private events of 30 to 125 guests—includes modern canapés, table snacks, bar bites, and cocktail dinners.

  • Exceptional Guest Experiences

    • Lead all daily bar operations with hands-on presence and attention to detail.

    • Maintain high standards in the presentation, accuracy, and timing of drinks from the rooftop menu.

    • Guarantee personalized, knowledgeable service and ensure the rooftop bar’s mixology-driven identity shines at every interaction

    • Build rapport with local regulars, hotel guests, and VIP visitors, recognizing preferences and anticipating needs

    • Guest feedback and apply effective service recovery in line with LuminAir policies

    • Ensure the delivery of premium experiences during events, terrace activations, and Eclipse private events

  • Beverage Innovation, Creative Direction & Brand Identity

    • Lead the creation of signature cocktails, seasonal menus, and immersive beverage experiences

    • Maintain LuminAir’s award‑winning standard in drink quality, presentation, and storytelling.

    • Foster relationships with suppliers, brand ambassadors, and the bartending community.

    • Represent LuminAir at competitions, collaborations, and industry events.

    • Maintain a strong presence in the Dutch bar industry and promote LuminAir as a leading cocktail destination.

    • Ensure consistency in visual brand elements: glassware, garnish, backbar layout, uniforms and menu presentation.

    • Collaborate with Marketing on social media content, bar photography, video shoots, and menu presentations.

    • Act as a key ambassador for LuminAir, supporting PR activities, influencer partnerships, branded events, and external storytelling to enhance the rooftop bar’s visibility.


  • Leadership, Team Development & Culture

    • Inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of bar backs, bartenders, and supervisors.

    • Assign daily work, ensuring all Team Members understand their responsibilities, and supervise performance during the shift.

    • Deliver impactful briefings, training sessions, and tasting workshops.

    • Foster an inclusive working environment where creativity and ownership are encouraged.

    • Support team members in mixology competitions and external workshops.


  • Commercial Performance & Operational Excellence

    • Identify commercial opportunities based on market trends, guest demographics, and competitor activity to strengthen LuminAir’s positioning in the Amsterdam bar scene.

    • Drive beverage revenue through menu engineering, upselling, and experience‑led programming.

    • Manage forecasting, budgeting, stock control, purchasing, and wastage.

    • Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities to increase guest spend and overall profitability.

    • Ensure POS accuracy, compliance with cash‑handling procedures, and consistent execution of opening/closing routines.

    • Collaborate proactively with the hotel’s F&D Director and Commercial Teams to align strategies with hotel wide goals

    5. Compliance, Safety & Sustainability

    • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations.

    • Promote responsible alcohol service and ensure licensing standards are met.

    • Champion sustainability by reducing waste, selecting responsible suppliers, and implementing environmentally conscious practices.

    • Maintain a safe and secure environment on the rooftop terrace.

    WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

    You are a charismatic, detail‑driven leader with a passion for hospitality, mixology, and storytelling. You thrive in high‑energy, high‑volume environments and have the confidence to lead both creatively and operationally.

    To be successful in this position, you will have:

    • 3–5 years of experience in premium bar or rooftop venue management.

    • A strong background in mixology and beverage‑concept development.

    • Proven success in managing and inspiring teams in a fast‑paced environment.

    • Strong organizational and financial skills.

    • Excellent communication skills to connect with diverse guests, our partners and external stakeholders.

    • A positive attitude and strong teamwork spirit.

    • Adaptability and problem‑solving skills, remaining calm and focused under pressure.


    The perfect candidate is fluent in English (Dutch language skills are an advantage) and comfortable using POS systems and MS Office.
