Safety is one of their core values. To continuously safeguard this, we are looking for a HSSE Manager.
As HSSE Manager you advise the Management Team on health, safety, (port) security, and environmental‑related matters to contribute to the realization of the business objectives. You collaborate with the Group Company and implement group policies and procedures, while overseeing all aspects of the HSSE function locally. Given its impact, this role is considered highly safety‑critical and plays a decisive part in the overall HSSE performance of the terminal. You report to the Group HSSE Director with a functional line to the Terminal Manager.
Responsibilities- Lead the HSSE team (3 fte) aligned with the Group HSSE strategic focus and priorities.
- Participate in the management team.
- Lead a comprehensive HSSE program, focused on preventing accidents and injuries, and minimizing risks to employees, contractors, visitors, and the environment.
- Oversee compliance with all applicable regulations, (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001) standards and procedures and take corrective action when necessary.
- Provide and/or coordinate regular HSSE training and awareness sessions for employees.
- Take ownership of programs to increase awareness and knowledge of Group Safety Principles and their execution in practice.
- Perform inspections to raise awareness and sensitivity among staff, contractors and other visitors to unsafe practices or behaviors.
- Report on terminal HSSE performance to Group HSSE and Terminal Management Team.
- Support management of change, incident and accident investigation processes.
- Help develop, evaluate, and maintain emergency and contingency plans for employees and contractors.
- Represent the company in HSSE-related matters to external stakeholders.
- Support the Group HSSE Director and collaborate with other HSSE Managers on integration of group-wide programs, initiatives, and arrangements.
- Lead and actively contribute to HSSE-related projects locally and across the group.
- Fostering a culture where safety is openly discussed, lead by example, work is stopped when unsafe, and incidents and near misses are reported.
- Higher Vocational (Bachelor) or University (WO) Degree in Technical, Safety (HVK) or Environmental studies
- 10 + years of leading HSSE experience in an industrial environment, preferably in dry bulk storage‑ and handling industry.
- Strong in managing complexity, skilled in cooperating with others across the boundaries of professional areas.
- Excellent communication skills: you know how to convey a complex message effectively for various target groups.
- You maintain the overview in order to achieve objectives in the long term and support others in planning the work.
- You are pro‑active, persuasive and possess proven leadership skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English
