About our teamThe Data Center Network team designs, builds, and operates Booking.com’s on‑premises data center networks for all internal workloads (Bare metal, Private Cloud, Kubernets, and others).
We drive innovation through strong collaboration with other infra teams, using in‑house automation tooling, GitOps, and zero‑touch provisioning to automate configuration, rollouts, validation, and recovery, so the network can evolve quickly and safely while minimizing manual toil.
Role overviewBooking.com is looking for a data center network engineer with experience in network automation. You will be closely working with other members of the network and Booking.com IT teams around the globe to ensure continued success for Booking.com. You will be able to make an impact on a more reliable and stable network with better monitoring and automation. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties- Ensure the reliability, stability, and availability of Booking.com’s global data center network.
- Operate, maintain, and improve large-scale network infrastructure spanning multiple data centers worldwide.
- Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring through robust scripting and tooling (preferably Python and Unix/Linux).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot networking solutions supporting private cloud environments and virtualization.
- Own and evolve zero-touch provisioning and automated configuration workflows.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, proactively address issues and minimize downtime.
- Work with multi-vendor environments, coordinating incident management and resolution.
- Engage with vendors and partners for network support and escalations when necessary.
- Deep expertise in networking fundamentals, including routing & switching, TCP/IP stack, BGP, EVPN, and VXLAN.
- Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining network automation stacks (preferably in Python) within Unix/Linux environments.
- Hands‑on experience with zero‑touch provisioning (ZTP) and automated configuration management.
- Proven ability to monitor and optimize network quality, availability, and performance.
- Extensive experience building and operating large‑scale data center networks.
- Solid background in private cloud networking and network virtualization.
- Demonstrated experience in incident management and vendor coordination.
- Experience with firewalls.
- Experience with multi vendor networks.
