As a Technical Manager – Infrastructure & IT Operations, you will play a pivotal role in developing our new infrastructure platform and improving our day-to-day IT operations. You will manage and build the infrastructure (6 persons) & IT ops teams (team of 4).
In this role, you will collaborate with product managers and other software development managers to develop a state-of-the-art developer platform and infrastructure, as a flywheel for our software engineering activity.
There are 3 main objectives:

- Develop the roadmap, strategy, and vision for the infrastructure and development platform on-par with commercial cloud solutions
- Deliver a self-service development platform that acts as a flywheel for the product teams
- Facilitate all of Last Mile Solutions
- Ensure that everyone at Last Mile Solutions has access to the right resources and systems
- Raise the bar on the quality of machines and working environment for your colleagues
- Assure a secure work environment, together with the CISO and security specialists
Together with HR, you determine the training needs of the team members, organize brainstorming sessions and you are the first point of contact for leave and absence. In addition to the soft skills of the team, you will naturally keep yourself busy with the technical side.
Together with the team, you are responsible for the (further) development of a future-proof technical implementation. You oversee the delivery process, escalate where necessary and you are able to get all team members to work together towards the common goal. You facilitate the making of technical choices (including component choice and service landscape) by the team members. You challenge them, you ask critical questions, you give positive critical feedback and in this way the process will continue to develop. You strive for simplicity and steer towards removing technical debt, maintaining a healthy balance between innovation and maintenance.
- Coach the team on priority setting and working in an agile manner, while maintaining operational excellence
- Facilitate discussions on system’s architecture, and usage of components
- Organize workshops, conference trips to ensure team’s knowledge is at an equal footing and ensure a culture of open learning
- Coach team members on career steps and to reach annual goals
- Collaborate with HR on various line-management topics
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in managing a software engineering, platform engineering or IT Ops team, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong vision on the value of a development platform and how platform engineering can bring value to a tech company
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams
- Previous experience in a complex matrix organization and/or in a fast-growing organization
- Experience working in a product organization, eager to bring developed best practices and lessons learned along with you
- Preferably affinity with BI/Data tooling, e.g., implementation of data lakes, data discovery and reporting
- Preferably previous experience with Kubernetes, container platforms and related components
- Preferably previous experience with office automation and compliance, providing and facilitating equipment and tools organization-wide
- Fluency in English and preferably Dutch
