Job DescriptionThe position of Controller presents a challenging and rewarding application of learned accounting skills. Large equipment contracts are processed with deposit billings and payments, and profit is calculated with the percentage of completion accounting. The position of Controller requires a high degree of accuracy and intuitive thought processes.
Cashflow Reporting & Projections

- Communicate with clarity and consistency; cascade key company messages to ensure alignment, engagement, and buy-in at all levels.

- Actively advocate for company direction and decisions.
- Advanced Financial Reporting: Develop an advanced understanding of Viking Masek financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Month End Duties: Complete all duties assigned as part of accounting playbook by the respective workday for timely month end reporting.
- Variance Analysis: Provide explanations for variances to budget and EAC (estimated at completion) to mitigate recurrence of issues. Assist with transactions to correct any variances if applicable.
- Account Reconciliation: Provide detailed account reconciliation backup for various accounts responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Account Reconciliation: Review team-prepared account reconciliations and approve them by validating supporting documentation and confirming alignment with the general ledger.
- Inventory Management: Ensure inventory is maintained accurately and reflect true financial position by conducting regular audits and reconciliations.
KRA #4 – Cashflow Reporting and Projections
- Cashflow forecasting: Provide short and long-term cashflow forecasts and ensure accuracy by performing regular audits against actuals.
- Aging Escalation & Reporting: Complete weekly report of status on outstanding payments including any updates on accounts previously escalated per standard process.
- Continuous Improvement: Enhance project reporting accuracy and efficiency through process improvements. Regularly review procedures and tools to meet business needs and industry standards. Encourage team members to suggest and adopt best practices.
- Ad Hoc Requests: Handle other ad hoc requests or reporting as needed to support the accounting leadership group.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a project-based environment. Two or more years of managerial experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP (Epicor preferred) or financial software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, PowerPoint, accounting software).
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently in a deadline-sensitive, fast-paced environment. Strong relationship management and influencing skills.

- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly desirable.
