Job Title

Platform Architect - PS&Q and Enabling Functions

Job Description

As Philips grows into becoming the frontrunner and trusted ‘Go-To’ company for Clinical solutions and services across the continuum of care and health, its Enterprise IT architecture will be increasingly interwoven with its product architecture. Enabling this would need the Enterprise IT architecture to be extremely modular, and constantly evolving, incorporating capability-based APIs as well as a microservices-based architecture based on cloud deployment practices.

The Philips Enterprise IT architecture is predominantly based on off-the-shelf software. This is based on significant investments that need to be preserved. In such a circumstance a platform way of thinking needs to promote a Philips (Enterprise IT) API way of working with a set of orchestration capabilities that decouples us from vendor API and vendor-specific orchestration only. A platform way of thinking combined with an optimal decomposition and a microservices architecture should also enable a better trade-off between a ‘build vs buy’ compared to a ‘buy only’ approach for functional capabilities offered.

Your role:

  • The Principal IT Architect (this position) will be responsible for driving the introduction and adoption of the enterprise architectural principles in line with business requirements in the field of Patient Safety & Quality (PS&Q) as well as Enabling Functions.
  • The Principal IT Architect will collaborate with the multiple (business and IT) teams in understanding their needs, the present implementation / IT landscape, and the funnel input into the creation of an overall technology roadmap for the applicable domains.
  • The Principal IT Architect will act as the subject matter expert in the field of PS&Q and Enabling Functions technologies and will drive the development of shared assets that can be re-used across the teams in IT. The assets themselves will be built using the inner source way of working (whenever applicable) and the Principal IT Architect will be responsible for setting up and maintaining that way of working on this subject.
  • The Principal IT Architect will be part of the Platform Group Functions IT team working in close collaboration with other principal and fellow architects, business teams and DevOps teams in the respective fields. This position reports directly to the Head of Group Functions IT and is part of the core team of the platform.

You're the right fit if you have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in engineering (computer science or equivalent) with 15+ years’ experience.
  • Extensive experience with the use of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), business process management, and RPA to automate and simplify End-to-end business processes at scale.
  • 5+ years of experience in the implementation of business applications in the area of Patient Safety and Quality and Enabling Functions.
  • Proven business process expertise in various functional areas focused mainly on P and HR.
  • Expertise in architecting and designing solutions using SOA/Rest/Micro Service patterns.
  • Expertise in the field of data analytics and reporting.
  • Experience with cloud computing on Microsoft Azure as well as AWS.
  • Industry-specific knowledge/ interest in a broad range of areas: regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, FDA), QMS frameworks and tooling, Legal processes and tooling, HR processes and tooling.
  • Experience collaborating with 3rd party SaaS providers for a given set of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Strong Project management understanding of Agile methodologies, budgeting, and resource management.

Mindsets and personal characteristics:

  • The role will be part of a geographically distributed team. This will need a global mindset and an ability to work with geographically distributed teams across time zones.
  • The individual should have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Multiple communication touchpoints across leadership levels can be anticipated.
  • Critical Thinker, with an eye for detail and capacity to think out-of-the-box.
  • A team player working as part of cross-functional teams composed of IT, R&D, operations, and service across business and markets.
  • Ability to appreciate multiple domains (within healthcare and wellness) and their overlaps.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural differences in globally spread teams.
  • Excellent Stakeholder management skills at all levels.
  • Team leadership to lead cross-functional teams and projects.

About Philips:

We are a health technology company. We built our entire company around the belief that every human matters, and we won't stop until everybody everywhere has access to the quality healthcare that we all deserve. Do the work of your life to help the lives of others.

If you're interested in this role and have many, but not all, of the experiences needed, we encourage you to apply. You may still be the right candidate for this or other opportunities at Philips. Learn more about our commitment to diversity and inclusion here.
