Position Summary
VirtualMetric is seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for the financial stewardship and operational efficiency of our rapidly growing SaaS business. You will play a critical role in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and forecasting, while providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for a meticulous, analytical, and strategic finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced and scaling environment.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes in close collaboration with relevant teams and stakeholders
- Perform variance analysis on budgets and forecasts, providing clear insights to leadership
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
- Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes
- Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Execute day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
- Customer Invoicing & Collections
- Prepare and issue customer invoices in alignment with contract terms
- Track receivables and follow up on outstanding accounts to ensure timely collections
- Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor daily cash flow and forecast future liquidity requirements
- Optimize working capital and support funding activities, as well as investor reporting
- Strategic Finance & Business Partnering
- Deliver data-driven financial insights to support business cases, investment decisions, and pricing strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial performance with company objectives
- Systems & Process Optimization
- Implement and improve financial systems, tools, and processes for scalability and automation
- Establish best practices in financial governance and cost control
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in financial control or FP&A roles
- Strong hands-on experience with bookkeeping, invoicing, and collections
- Prior experience in SaaS or Cybersecurity/Tech sectors strongly preferred
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite) and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
- Deep understanding of GAAP, budgeting principles, and financial compliance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on mindset
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Adaptability and drive to thrive in a fast-growing startup environment
