As a Data Centre Specialist, you will make an impact by maintaining, monitoring, and operating Cognizant’s Data Centre to meet service level commitments and best practices. You will also assist other data centre teams in building and supporting customer projects and environments as needed.
In this role, you will:- Provide hands‑on support for data centre operations, including vendor escort and troubleshooting.
- Maintain asset location information using DCIM tools and CMDB.
- Manage ServiceNow tickets and ensure timely updates and closures.
- Handle shipping/receiving of goods and maintain tracking spreadsheets.
- Perform hardware and cable installations to data centre standards.
This is an onsite position requiring presence at the Schiphol Data Centre campus.
What you need to have to be considered- Experience in a multi‑tenant enterprise‑class data centre environment.
- Strong customer focus and ability to interpret client needs.
- Working knowledge of physical network and cabling technologies.
- Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Previous technical support experience.
- Basic facilities knowledge (HVAC, power, security).
- Familiarity with MS Office tools and ServiceNow.
- Understanding of rack elevations, patching standards, and RMA processes.
- Flexible to work extra hours, weekends, and on‑call rotations.
- Must live within 30 miles / 30 minutes of the data centre.
- Ability to work in multiple customer cages and manage patching documentation.
