Senior Web Engineer – Smart TV / OTT

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer with 5+ years of professional experience building modern web apps, ideally on connected devices such as Smart TVs, set-top boxes, or embedded systems. We’re remote-first (Europe), with hybrid options in Amsterdam, Madrid, and Valencia.

The job will consist of collaborating with other engineers in Europe and the USA to build high-performance video-based platforms for our clients. These platforms typically have a streaming component and run across a wide variety of connected devices; from Smart TVs and set-top boxes to in-car entertainment systems.

You’ll work on:

• Front-end apps for Smart TVs, set-top boxes, and embedded displays

• Video playback and streaming UX

• Device-specific integrations for casting, DRM, playback, and remote control

• Occasionally, cross-platform development for mobile or automotive UIs

This is a remote or hybrid position, which could be anywhere in Europe. We have locations in Amsterdam (HQ), Madrid and Valencia, with more hubs to come in the future. Even if you’re fully remote, you are encouraged to come hang out in our clubhouse in central Amsterdam from time to time, or meet up with the team at a conference, meetup, or other event.

• 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with React

• Deep understanding of React internals (rendering, hooks, state)

• 4+ years of experience with TypeScript

• 5+ years of experience with core web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), REST APIs

• Experience building apps for Smart TVs or embedded platforms (e.g., LG webOS, Samsung Tizen)

• Strong background in video streaming (VOD, AOD, OTT) and media player development

• Experience with bundlers like Webpack or Vite

• Solid Node.js experience

• Familiarity with Git, GitLab, and collaborative workflows

• Testing mindset and hands-on experience with tools like Vitest, Jest, Cypress, or Playwright. Also device focused such as Suitest

• Understanding of performance constraints and debugging on low-resource or legacy hardware

• Comfortable with functional programming principles and code organization

• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)

• Able to work independently, review PRs, and mentor others

Bonus points for experience with:

• Automotive infotainment systems (Android Automotive, Android Auto, Web-based UIs for cars)

• Reactive programming (RxJS, Redux Observables)

• Media player integration and tuning

• Design systems and component libraries

• Next.js or similar frameworks
