As Director within Corporate Banking Clients (CBC), you will be part of the Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory team and report to the Head of Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory (CSDA).
The Debt Advisory team, part of Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory (CSDA), operates within Corporate Banking Clients (CBC) and specializes in providing independent and strategic advice on capital structures and tailored debt raising solutions. The team advises clients on complex and high-profile debt transactions, offering guidance to corporates and sponsors across various industries, with a particular focus on renewable energy, mobility, digital infrastructure, and transition finance opportunities.
Leveraging deep sector expertise and strong relationships with banks, institutional investors, and alternative capital providers, the team delivers innovative financing solutions to optimize capital structures and support business growth. Collaboration is integral to success, with frequent interaction across internal teams such as our sector teams (Sector Advisors and Sector Bankers), M&A, as well as Syndications, DCM, Project Finance, and Leveraged Finance, ensuring tailored and effective solutions for clients.
Debt Advisory is part of the Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory team, comprising 10 FTEs primarily located in Amsterdam, supporting ABN AMRO's European franchise across all chosen client segments of CBC.
Your job- Lead the execution of debt advisory mandates, including refinancing, capital raising, and restructuring, while supporting origination efforts in collaboration with the senior of the team;
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships, providing bespoke strategic advice on debt structuring, refinancing, and alternative funding solutions;
- Perform in-depth financial analysis, modelling, benchmarking, and rating assessments to deliver actionable recommendations;
- Prepare high-quality marketing materials, including debt packages and transaction documentation, ensuring alignment with client objectives;
- Manage end-to-end debt raising processes, including lender engagement, DD coordination, Q&A, negotiations, documentation, and closing;
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated solutions and maximize cross-sell opportunities. Monitor market trends, providing insights to clients and stakeholders, and contribute to sustainable financing initiatives;
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment while promoting the bank’s sustainability goals.
- Perform detailed financial analysis and debt modelling to evaluate financing options;
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports, pitch books, and recommendations to clients and stakeholders (e.g. RfP, IM, credit story);
- Manage execution of transactions and ensure seamless lender communication and due diligence processes;
- Represent the firm at industry events and build networks with key stakeholders;
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements during transaction execution.
For this role, we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial and proactive mindset, combined with strong commercial acumen and the courage to tackle complex challenges. The candidate will anticipate client needs, mitigate risks effectively, and contribute to delivering impactful solutions.
Hard Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financing structures, debt markets and regulatory frameworks (particular related to infrastructure);
- Familiarity with Corporate Banking products, including Project Finance, Leveraged Finance, Equity and Debt Capital Markets, and M&A.
- Experience in financial modelling (experience with Project Finance modelling is a plus);
- Solid analytical capabilities and creative problem-solving skills;
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel for preparing qualitative presentations and models;
- Communication and negotiation skills for client and stakeholder engagement;
